About Jon Petts

I spend a lot of time thinking about how things change, and why they often don’t.

We all do this.

How did that new Principal turn that school around?

Why didn’t my church grow numerically when I’m sure I was doing everything right?

What do I say to the business man who admits he feels imprisoned by the life he has built?

For decades, my work has been rooted in Christian ministry and leadership development. I am fascinated by the intersection of established change models and ancient timeless wisdom found in the Bible.

Firm Foundations, Skyscraper Faith

Concerned for the tension between constant scaling, and spiritual integrity, I am building a platform dedicated to helping ambitious Christian leaders thrive without compromising their convictions.

Looking at life through a biblical lens, Firm Foundations, Skyscraper Faith is all about digging deep into the solid rock of Christ and his teachings in order to reach the heights God intended for us, without crumbling under the pressure of our own weight.

If you feel that friction between your Kingdom values and corporate demands, if you’re aware of the dangers of prosperity without purpose, my goal is to walk with you as you build Spirit-led success and influence.

I believe you can be unashamedly successful for God’s glory. It is entirely possible to scale without risking a personal or structural crash.

What I Am Not

There is a lot of noise in the executive development space.

To save us both time, it is important to be clear about what I do not do.

I am not a business coach. I am not the guy who will help you squeeze an extra five percent out of your quarterly profit margins or optimise your supply chain. My work is deeper than that.

I am not a business mentor. I have not built your company, and I will not pretend to know your specific market better than you do.

My Approach

I do not claim to have every answer for your specific boardroom, nor do I offer quick-fix productivity hacks.

What I offer right now is a structured space to think clearly.

Through my writing, weekly briefings, and podcast, I am exploring these concepts in public. Drawing on my pastoral background and current academic research, I am mapping out frameworks to help you step back from tactical distraction. We look at what is actually happening. We imagine what a healthier structure might look like, and we explore practical options to test in the real world.

Background

My approach is built on over three decades of practical experience in leadership, education and ministry. My career has been defined by a commitment to developing others, whether guiding church communities, mentoring teachers or lecturing the next generation of leaders.

I spent ten years as the Senior Team Leader at Brixham Community Church in Devon, where I chaired the charity’s board of trustees and directed leadership development initiatives. My background in education includes serving as Head of Religious Studies at St Wilfrid’s C of E Academy in Blackburn, alongside roles as School Chaplain and Worship Pastor at Liverpool City Life Church. Today, I continue to invest in strategic development and theology as a regular guest lecturer at Audacious College in Manchester.

Holding a Bachelor’s in Divinity from London University and a Master’s in Process Consultancy from the University of Manchester, I aim to integrate deep theological insight with practical expertise in institutional transition.

Now based in the North of England, I live with my wife, Andrea, and serve at Audacious Church Manchester along with our two adult children, Samuel and Abigail. When I am not writing, lecturing or consulting, I am a keen walker and can usually be found exploring local footpaths with Andrea and our Border Collie, Skipper.
